Old News: Back

News: 12-24-05
I'm just updating to say Happy Holidays!. ...and also that I'm currently having some problems with my router. It keeps crashing, so if the site isn't up 100% of the time, I'm sorry. I'm trying my best to keep it up as much as possible. (It's been a battle.)

News: 12-18-05
Just a short little update. Incase anyone was wondering (which I'm sure they're not), the site was down today due to problems I was having with my network. Everything should be up and running fine now. Sorry for any inconvience.

News: 12-16-05
So the sites been moved over and everything seems to be going great. All good news on the webpage front. Now as for my text editor, I might have killed it. (haha, not really) Long story short, I'm working on getting the multi-file editing working, and to do so I basically had to take out everything and rework the core GUI of the application. (I'm not so sure if I just used that term correctly...) Well anycase, it's in a dangerous state now, but hopefully it'll be back in the safe very soon.

Well, it's finally in the works (as you can see by viewing this site). The big "Move" over to my own private server is almost complete. I just need to add the actual files over and move this html document to the sites root directory! It's nice to be hosting a site now that doesn't have a 2inch side bar and a pop up for every page. (What happened to you GeoCities???) Well, anycase, Enjoy.

UPDATE: Files uploaded. Please tell me if you find a broken links, thanks!

News: 12-1-05
Ah, it's almost Christmas time again! Anyway, I've been working on the File Editor program quite a bit. It's coming along nicely. (Those words are usually the kiss of death to my projects) I've added it to the projects section along with a screen shot, which can be found here. Tell me what you think.

In other news, I'm thinking about hosting my site locally from my computer at home also. (The site that's currently my file server [Which is here]) I'm not 100% sure yet because I do most of my updating from school and if I changed it to a local site on my computer I would have to set up some sort of web-applet type of editor...or just an ftp server...hmm.. The gears are spinning!

Sorry for the some-what lack of updates. I've been having a little less free time at work study (thus less time to program) but I have indeed gotten the hang of programming using the qt header files for the most part. I'm working on a text editor that has built in console support (for easy compiles... yeah I know you can just have the console right next to the text editor but w/e) and possibly multi-file editing. I'm using this as a "booster" to get me prepared for the client/server project.

News: 10-31-05
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
With that being said, I do indeed have an update. I was playing around with the KDE headers for the past afternoon and after all that, I don't really like them. I've decided to go with the QT headers to handle GUI capibilities for my server/client program. The good thing about QT headers is that it's completely cross platform. It will compile under Unix/Linux/Mac/Windows hopefully without problem. (I've had none with Linux... even though it's embedded :P) So it appears my project is back to being multiplatform! Hurrah!
- Nukem
News: 10-24-05
...and the project storm rages on. I'm currently working on a new project. Yes, I know, it seems that's all I do. I start a project, get bored and start another. So here goes this idea. It's a simple server and client application that forwards messages to users who can sign into the server to retrieve messages left for them. It's I guess a very basic email program but with Instant Messaging influences. I'm using SDL_net to handle all the TCP/IP protocol and currently stdio to handle input/output. (You can currently log into the server and send messages to it.) I'm thinking of transferring over to KDE headers or just plain X server headers for GUI capabilities. So yes kids, this is going to be a Linux only project seeing that I can't easily convert from Linux X server to Win32 without redoing almost the whole source code. More news at it progresses.

Oh I also added a little FireFox link on the News page for all of you that are still using Internet Explorer. :P

News: 10-6-05
Ok, So I've beening a little schitzophrenic lately with my projects. I've been creating, getting 50 lines, and starting over. I'm finding it hard to find intrest in a project that isn't similar to the many projects I've had in the past. It seems all I want to make is bad, simple, RPGs. Well, I have an idea for a strategy like game where you're a manager and you have to manage a store. More of a Sim, but you get the idea. I've started some work using KDevelop in Linux and I'm currently using SDL also. More info as it progresses or terminates. - Nukem
News: 9-16-05
Alright, so RPG has been put on temporary hold. (like everything else I've ever programmed). I'm thinking about making a simple GUI for MS-DOS similar to the likes of DOS Shell that was packed with MS-DOS 5.0. I'm not sure how far I'll get with something like that, but it's a working idea. Also, I've started to teach myself a little COBOL programming...I'm not really sure how well I'm doing seeing that I've yet to find a decent IDE/Compiler combo. It looks like it's going to have to be ol' Notepad and command prompt. :( - Nukem
News: 9-6-05
Yeah, yeah, yeah, lot's of updating lately... it seems pretty common when this time of year comes around. Well anyway, I've ported my RPG over to Win32 so I can work at it during school. It's coming along quite nice and the areas of the games basic layout is almost complete. I'm also changing the characters used for graphics over to the default DOS ASCII key code instead of semi-fitting characters found on the standard keyboard. As for the battle system, inventory system, or general player party stuff, I've yet to even start that area and it'll be a while before I do so. Well, that's it. - Nukem
News: 8-26-05
I've decided to keep my RPG "second attempt" ASCII graphics because it's so much easier that way, especially considering how far I've gotten in it thus far. The concept of the game is almost exactly like that of the original RPG except it's A) Linux based and B) Redone completely from scratch using Classes and much neater programming. (if you can call it that). I've also decided to include a difficutly level. I know a lot of people will be turned off with that "Arcade" like aspect of the game but I know if I make a simple RPG where people don't have the option of beating in one sitting and possibly coming back and try it on a harder difficulty, they're not even going to sit through 1/2 of the first sitting. Well, not really much more to say... school is starting so perhaps I'll have a lot more time to work on programming perhaps I won't, we're just all going to have to wait and see. ...until next time. - Nukem
News: 8-5-05
Well, my program adventure has begun, again. I've started work on an ASCII console RPG like many before, namely "RPG". This game is currently in a very similar vein. I'm programming it in Linux but I'm sure if I can I'll get a Win32 port. I'm not sure if I want to keep it ASCII graphics or bump it up to SDL. The whole idea of the project was to keep is simple, thus the ASCII graphics but I think SDL might be a bit more challenging. More info as it developes. I'm also thinking about making a Breakout clone because I think that would be relatively easy too. :P - Nukem
News: 7-21-05
Ah great news! No, it's not a new programming venture... yet. I've installed Slackware Linux 10.0 on my computer! I've managed to get a fairly nice C++ IDE for it called MinGW Developer Studio and it's GREAT! A lot nicer than Dev C++ for Windows if you ask me. The only thing is, If I'm going to program on this computer I guess I'm just going to be able to post the source codes seeing that most of the PC world is running Windows. :D Well that's it for now! - Nukem
News: 7.2.05
You know, one day I'll finally update the menu on the side so that it goes to the NEW MESSAGE boards, but for now you're all just going to keep having to go through the old one and clickin on the link to the new one. Sorry, I don't have time this morning to fix that. As for Programming, it's been put on hold because my band is recording and such. So basically *insert generic excuse to avoid work here*. - Nukem
News: 5.27.05
Ok, So I just finished my first semester at college, and it was great. It's summer time now but I doubt that means I'm going to have more free time. That's alright though, maybe I'll whip something together just for the sake of an update... lord knows I haven't had a real update in about 1/2 a year. haha - Nukem
News: 4.27.05
Ok, So that was the fastest month (almost 2) in the history of the world. It doesn't go without any update though, I did indeed work on the side scroller a little bit, and by a little bit I mean very little. I basically reviewed a bunch of SDL stuff in C++ to get me going, I'm just out of time 90% of the time. (repeditive much?) and the release of Numb, surprisingly still hasn't happened... that's just due to my own laziness. (as usual).. So yeah.. that's all~! - Nukem
News: 3.7.05
Ok, so the release isn't the reason for this update, actually the reason is just boredom. I'm in class and have nothing better to do. I'm going to finish Numb and then I'm thinking I want to do some sort of side scrolling game.. Just a simple one with maybe like a level or two. In anycase, I'll probably keep you all updated. - Nukem
News: 2.15.05
Good news to report as we approach a month of no updates. In my programming class we're finally doing stuff that teaches me things! Hurray! But even more importantly, I double anyone remembers "Numb - The Stupid Adventures of Jolly R" the text Qbasic game I was creating about 2 years ago. Well I have been working on it and I'm sure it'll be out by next update. (Actually I'm pretty sure it's going to be the reason for the next update.) So look for that in the near future. - Nukem
News: 1.19.05
Well, my winter break is coming to an end and school starts up again in the begining of next month *cringe*... but in more important news.. The new message boards are up and running, Might want to take a visit and see what you think of them. (Link on old message board) Don't worry, eventually I'll add a link to the current message boards and the old ones when I have more time, but right now I'm going to bed. G'night. - Nukem
News: 1.9.05
Happy bilated New Year! Yeah, I finished my first semester at college with a 3.71 GPA.. I'm pretty proud of myself. Um, not much programming updates. My friend Mike and I started to create a DOS chat program but never finished, we sorta just got the basics of it down. Other than that, not much has been done. If you're interested in the API we were using to create it, it was SDL-Net. I'm sure if you search google you can find it 1-2-3. Well that's it.. Until next time. - Nukem
News: 11.10.04
Ok, So I'm not on top of things at all. I'm just updating the files today. More importantly why I am having this update is because I'm stopping programming on Millennium Crisis, it is too big of a project to be working on with school, work, and everything. I'm thinking I'm going to start fresh with a simple side scroller game... or something of the sort that I can work on in my free time. Sorry to the maybe one(?) person that might have been looking forward to that game. - Nukem
News: 10.25.04
I don't know why I'm so lazy when it comes to uploading new stuff. I have to still reuploade the Millenium Crisis demo with the .DLL file and the Free Fall Physics demo. I did update the link to Puckdroppers site and added Retna's site to the links page though, so I'm sorta on top of things... right? - Nukem
News: 10.13.04
Ok, Millennium Crisis is in heavey re-developement. I've redone the code once and the engine is running much better and more flexable. I think I'm going to have to do it atleast once more before I can move on in production of the game. I also made a free fall physics engine demo, it still needs to be tweaked but it runs pretty nice. I'll upload it once it's 100% done. - Nukem
News: 9.28.04
Alright.. Major news, I mean.. BLOCKBUSTER. I have finally released the demos for Wry 3: Stale and Hellbent. Yes, that's right, after over 2 years of waiting, the demos are finally out. They're over in the Qbasic files section. A special note on hellbent though, you have to extract the files to "C:\hellbent" for the program to run correctly. Oh and you won't believe this... I FOUND A LOST BACKUP OF THE RPG SOURCE. Yep, that's right... I found a copy of my C++ program that still works. I'm not making any promises that it'll ever be finished, but the possibility is there. :D I would say that's all.. but that sounds like I'm belittling this massive update. - Nukem
News: 9.24.04
Alright, hardcore programming has been done on Fear, which I'm now just going to call Millenium Crisis b/c I don't really feel like thinking up another name. I've actually gotten so far that I have released an Engine demo (it's in the C++ files section). It's not much yet but it took a bit to get that far. It's probably the most advanced release NE has ever had. More info coming soon. - Nukem
News: 9.20.04
You will never believe what has happened.. I have started to program again. My friend Mike and I are programming a C++ game based on members of our band using the SDL library. It's coming along pretty nicely. Also, if anyone remembers the QB game I was working on in 1999 (that's 5 years ago) called Millenium Crisis... ha, probably not. Well It's a C++ game that mixes the gameplay idea of that and a little bit from Terror. Currently it's being called "Fear" but I have a feeling that might change pretty soon. Hey, maybe I'll even post the old Millenium Crisis code sometime in the future (if i can FIND IT) to give you guys a better idea what I'm talking about. Until then.. Adios! - Nukem
News: 8.18.04
Alright, I just realized I've been making up excuses for not programming for about a year... and it's just sad now. So yeah, no more excuses in updates for not programming.. If I program something I'll post it and such otherwise it's just going to be regular rambling updates like usual.. For example. I got my new IBM ThinkPad laptop yesterday (and yes I'm using it right now to update this website).. For all those interested here are the specs:

Processor: Intel Centrino 1.5GHz
RAM: 512MB
Hdd space: 30Gig
Optical Media: DVD-Rom/CD-RW drive
Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 (1024x768)
Internet: Wireless B/G PCMCIA card also Dialup port and RJ45 ethernet port
OS: Windows XP Professional
Display: 17''
Weight: ~5lbs
Other Features: Keyboard light built into top of display for working in the dark and also quick resolution change both via keyboard shortcut.

So yeah, that's about it concerning my new laptop.. And who knows, now that I can just bring it anywhere I may just get bored and start programming at like my kitchen table or something.. hahaha Yep, same old excuses and plans for the future you've all heard before... (and trust me this is the last one unless something really does happen) - Nukem
News: 7.16.04
Lately I've been setting everything up for college in the fall and working, oh god have i been working. Well I think everything is finally settled.. yet i still find myself w/ very little free time. Is it bad that I always update w/ no real updating? haha - Nukem
News: 6.12.04
Ok yeah.. so not much news. Puckdropper asked me to update his link apparenlty 2 months ago and I just did that now. Sorry about that. I just finished High School yesterday and working 2 jobs it's ganna be hard getting back into programming but I really want to.. and I NEED to. (Seeing that I'll be going to college for this stuff come the fall) haha. Expect updates soon, but don't keep your hopes up too high. - Nukem
News: 3.24.04
Wow, exactly a month between updates. Anyway, that stupid converter was lame and no one would ever get any fun out of it so I stopped working on that. I started working on this new game that the object is to get the gold bar in each level while avoiding bad guys and collecting dots for points. I programmed the basic basic (yes I meant to put that twice) engine of it. It's going to be a robotron type game (..I think?). Oh, and I uploaded the RPG demo/final release, (final release b/c the source got corrupt.) It's in the C++ files section. - Nukem
News: 2.24.04
Uh.. Happy belated New Years? Wow. long time no update. Well, atleast HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY NUKEM ENTERPRISES! Yes that's right.. 5 years this site has been up. Scary isn't it? Btw I started programming on a converter that converts Decimal->Hexdecimal->Binary.. any combo of those, Pretty cool.. and pretty spiffy menu. More info, when ever I remember to update. - Nukem
News: 12.16.03
Um yeah, I actually programmed not to long ago.. I haven't forgotten much, but the problem is i never have any free time.. Ok well I do, but I spend it doing other things. Hmm, yeah i really have to make some time to program b/c this is a rediculous lapse in updates.. Shesh. REALLY SORRY. Any ideas of what to program though??? - Nukem
News: 9.18.03
Yeah, still no updates.. sorry guys. Anyway. RPG source code got completely corrupt so I'll probably just post up what i had going.. It sucks, it was getting good too. Oh well. Yeah I'm taking this computer services class in school about working with the insides of the computers so maybe now I'll stop breaking my own computers.. hahaah. Yeah, that's about it. Peace - Nukem
News: 8.19.03
No, I still don't have any programming updates to boast to all of you. I've been pretty busy this whole summer and haven't been on the computer much at all. Anyway, I added a link to my band's web site, check it out and tell me what you think. (I'm the bass player, Erik) - Nukem
News: 7.18.03
Yeah, with work and all.. I really haven't done anything concerning the web page or programming since the begining of summer. I'm just updating to show that I'm still alive and I'll be back to programming most likely at the end of the summer. I'm just having to much fun to be cooped up in my house all the time. :\ - Nukem
News: 6.30.03
Well, finals are finally over and I passed everything so I have some free time on my hands now. I still have work and the band I'm in is definitly a priority of mine but slowly but surely I'll finish the RPG. All that's really left to do is collision detection with buildings and objects and then implement the story into the game. Puckdropper created a game (and started a series) called Go Home: North, i uploaded it to the QBasic files section. Check it out it's very Wry like. I also "beta tested" the sequel Go Home: South. And that, IMO, is going to be amazing. Ok, well that's it for now. - Nukem
News: 6.11.03
I'm still working on that RPG, maybe I'll release a demo very soon. (how many times have I said that before???) Well anyway, tomorrows the last day of school and then I have a week of finals. (Yeah, stupid NY schools...) Unfortunatly between work and finals I probably won't have much time to program over the next 2 weeks, but I'll get back on it as soon as summer starts... Sorry... :\ - Nukem
News: 5.29.03
I'm currently working on a C++ RPG, it's going really really good. I don't exactly know when I'm going to finish it but I might release a demo pretty soon showing off what I've gotten done so far. Basically, if I just went the extra step and bothered with color it would rival Hellbent.. Oh wait, I never released a demo of that now did I? :\ Oh well, anyway, if this project takes too long I'll release Numb to hold you people over. (yes, all 3 of you. lol) - Nukem
News: 5.16.03
I released the C++ Data Base program, it's not as good as I hoped it to finally be, but what can you do? (Don't answer that.) Well, I think I have an idea for my next program... I think I should finish the old Qbasic game that I never finished known only as "Numb". It was (is) the most funny out of all previous text games I've released... I'm clueless to the reason why it was never released... Oh, I also adjusted the files grades a bit. (some were lowered) - Nukem
News: 5.13.03
Well, after much trouble with the DataBase program, I finally got it started rolling. After I finish this program I'm pretty much out of ideas of what to make next. I'm completely clueless of what I want to do, it would be so much easier if I had more C++ programming experiance (ie knew more commands and stuff). See, it's a catch 22... I want to to program to get more experiance and learn more but without idea's I can't program and thus can't learn more... Ugh, what am I to do? Looks like it's time to "brainstorm".. gah. :( - Nukem
News: 5.10.03
Yeah, I haven't updated the WEB site for a while but that doesn't mean I haven't been doing stuff. I created one new Java Program and one new C++ program, and to top it off I'm already getting started on another C++ DataBase Program. The Java program is a Multiplication Education Program and C++ program is an "Equal Fill" program. Yeah the name's odd and so is the program. Download it to see what I'm talking about. Anyway.. I'm out. - Nukem
News: 3.31.03
Created a new C++ program, this one is a DOS based Text Editor. Unlike a lot of my past Qbasic utilities, this one actually saves and views files. lol. Currently one of my best C++ files I've created. (Also, this file actually has some color! :D). Well, that's about it. - Nukem
News: 3.28.03
Well, I finally got a good free C++ compilar, Dev C++. It's amazing, if you want to get a copy (for free) it's over at www.bloodshed.net You don't even need a copy of borland's C++ compilar, it's all included! Any way, I wrote 2 more small programs. Both do basically the same thing but one is in Java and the other is in C++. The C++ version came out better, but they're both available to download in the files section. - Nukem
News: 3.14.03
I just got a new computer today, only took 5 years. lol. Well anyway, because I finally have a good enough computer to run it, I got JBuilder. That's right, the site will now have Java based programs. www.borland.com has it for free at their site.. Man, I wish they had a decent C++ compiler for free. :/ Er.. Yeah, well I created an simple average program in JBuilder, It's in the files section. - Nukem
News: 3.8.03
I re-programmed NEC from scratch and released version 2.0. I fixed all the errors that plagued version 1. Most importantly, the annoying quit error and the problem with only being to add 2 numbers. I also created a whole new look for it. You can download it over at the files section. - Nukem
News: 3.6.03
I've created another C++ program, it's a calculator called NEC. It's not that great, but it's a start. You can download NEC version 1.0 over in the files section. I'm probably going to create a second version after I finish some more of my C++ programs. After programming in C++ and Java for half a month, I really like them both. (C++ more than Java..). IMO I think they're a lot better than Qbasic. - Nukem
News: 2.13.03
I've started some downloading in C++, also Java. I've created my first program in C++ today and uploaded it. (It's another simple mad lib prog). I've also decided to make this site a more multi-platform programming site. Once I get a hold of Java for my computer (currently I can only prog in school with Java :( ) I'll add that section to the files section also. Peace. - Nukem
News: 2.11.03
I DID IT! I finally released the Dragon Slayer Demo. (that RPG I've been working on)! Hurray! It's mostly a battle engine and menu demo also an item demo. It may run a bit fast on the new computers. The way it is right now it works fine on my 233MHz P2 and 25MHz 486, I can't say anything for computers over 300MHz. Tell me how it runs so I can try to fix it if there's any problems. Thanks. (Click here to download) - Nukem
News: 2.3.03
Yeah, well sorry about the lack of updates, I've been lets says, "Preoccupied". I finally have some free time to myself today so I'm planning on doing some massive programming on the RPG after I eat dinner. I want to start working on items and or objects in the over world and maybe add some more enemies. Some time this week I'll upload the demo. If I forget, e-mail me. (shamrice@optonline.net). Well that's it for now. - Nukem
News: 1.6.03
Welp, the holiday season is finally over. Wow, that went really really fast. Anyway, the RPG I'm working on still doesn't have a name or a story going yet. I really don't know how much further it will go in developement, but I'll release a demo in a little bit anyway. (regardless of it's current status). So look out for that... well, if you want.. - Nukem
News: 12.23.02
Uh, that 2 player RPG thing didn't get too far. I started working on a regular one player RPG. So far it's coming along really really good. The battle system is almost 100% complete. I haven't worked much on the map area, but I have the character moving and the menu system down. Oh yeah Merry Christmas! - Nukem
News: 12.21.02
Well, everything is installed and running fine. I would have updated from that computer but either the old IE3.02 can't handle most "submit" like buttons or my IP address is wrong and my ISP is having trouble locating HTTP servers. Whatever the cause I'll get it straightened out. Any way, I started working on a two player co-op RPG. It's split screen and regular turn based RPG style. You each explore and battle seperate but fight bosses and fight dungeons together. I'm also thinking of making one person be able to revive the other and/or give them items... I'm not sure how far this project will get, it's going to be mighty hard to do. :( - Nukem
News: 12.17.02
Well speak of the devil. Yesterday the hard drives and new modem came in the mail. I installed them and I'm currently setting everything up. (Have to format and stuff.. ugh). I'll probably be done with all that stuff by the end of today, tomorrow I'll start returning my files and programs. I'm going to add a link to the site where I got them because they where so much help and the prices where great.. well as soon as I get the "ok" from them that is. I'll keep everyone posted. - Nukem
News: 12.15.02
Well, there's no real updates because my 486's hard drive decided to cop out a few hours after I had it all set up for online. Incase you didn't know, I do all my Qbasic programming on that machine so I'm at a stand still until my 2 new hard drives come in the mail. (325meg and a 280meg! :D) When the hard drive crashed, I lost all my "lost files" but the thing that gets to me is that I lost Terror -FTU- for good. Luckly the day before I had a hunch and backed up Hellbent and Wry 3. Wew. I'll update again when I get my computer back up and running. (should be before Christmas) - Nukem
News: 12.1.02
The site is completely done, I decided to switch to the black background because the blue was annoying people and frankly, it looks better. Yeah yeah, I know. I said I didn't want another "dark" site... but for some reason it still doesn't seem as excessivly dark as the old NE page was. - Nukem
News: 11.23.02
The site is pretty much done, I just added screen shots of the projects I'm currently working on. Trust me, it took a long time to do. Also, I didn't officially change the page because Puckdropper told me that on his Netscape the page isn't working. So I sent him the news HTML file so he can see what the problem is. Once that problem is resolved I'll change the site. - Nukem
News: 11.20.02
Finished almost all of the sections of the web site today. The whole site will probably be completly done by Thrusday, but I'm not going to replace the old site until probably about Saturday. If you'd found this site or if you'd gotten here from the message board, tell me what you think. - Nukem
News: 11.19.02
Welcome to the new Nukem Enterprises web site. This site is still under it's basic planning. I'm sorry if this throws you people off. I'll try to finish the site completly by the end of this week. Shouldn't be hard, the only problem is that I have projects due this week in school. Damn. well anyway enjoy. - Nukem
News: 11.18.02
testing the test page. - Nukem
